Pain Management Unit

Dr. Medel is a specialist in Anesthesiology, Resuscitation, and Pain Therapy, with advanced training at Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona. He holds a Master’s degree in Pain Management from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and, since 2017, has been leading the Pain Unit at Vall d’Hebron, where he focuses his clinical work on the comprehensive treatment of both acute and chronic pain.

Deeply committed to medical education, he teaches in the Medicine degree program and actively contributes to numerous training courses and educational programs at both the national and international level.

In the field of research, he has participated in numerous multicenter clinical trials, involving both pharmacological treatments and the development of new technologies for pain management.

Dr. Medel is currently Vice President of the Catalan Pain Society and an active member of the Spanish Pain Society (SED) and the International Neuromodulation Society (INS)—a reflection of his ongoing dedication to innovation and excellence in the field of pain treatment.
